EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Farmers' Truck Check

Captain George Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces that on August 17 and 18, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will be conducting voluntary commercial vehicle inspections for area farmers. The inspection will be conducted at Ross Farms, 2607 Jonesway Road, Kennett, Missouri. Another inspection will be conducted on August 19 and 20, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the David Bennett Farm located near Charleston on Route C, three-quarters of a mile west of Missouri 105.

Commercial vehicle officers will conduct inspections for anyone who brings their truck to the check. If violations are discovered, officers will waive any enforcement action. However, if the vehicle has an out-of-service violation, it will have to be repaired before leaving the inspection location.

Captain Ridens said, “We are doing this as a courtesy to the owners and will be applying CVSA decals to vehicles that pass the inspection. This process not only helps the farmers with defects that could prove costly if not repaired in a timely manner, it also helps fulfill the mission of the Missouri State Highway Patrol by having safer vehicles on our Southeast Missouri roadways.”

Questions concerning the inspection should be directed to Chief Commercial Vehicle Officer Randy Cobb at Troop E Headquarters, phone 573-840-9508, extension 218.
