EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop on I-55 Results in Drug Arrest



On January 17, 2007, at approximately 0115 hours a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer traveling north on I-55 at the 52-mile marker in New Madrid County for exceeding the state speed limit.



The driver, Antonio S. Rand, 29, of Sikeston, Missouri was stopped for exceeding the speed limit and consented to a search of the vehicle he was operating resulting in the seizure of 23 individually wrapped bags of marijuana. Antonio Rand was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and taken to the New Madrid County Jail.



The charges for which Antonio S. Rand was arrested for are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented in court on competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
