EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E "Move Over" Operation



Captain George E. Ridens, Commanding Officer of Troop E, announces the results of a “Move Over” Operation conducted in theTroop E area.

During the month of April, Troop E officers conducted a “Move Over” operation in the thirteen county area of Southeast Missouri. The six-day operation involved 24 officers for a total of 192 man-hours. Officers had a total of 146 arrests and stopped 246 vehicles. Officers issued 23 summonses and 13 warnings for “Move Over” violations. Also during the operation officers made 1 DWI arrest, issued 60 speeding summonses, 23 fail to yield summonses, 23 seat belt summonses, 1 child restraint summons, 3 following to close summonses, 2 CVE summonses, 9 non-moving summonses, and made 3 felony warrant arrests.

The Missouri Sate Highway Patrol continues to make an effort to increase public awareness while enforcing the “Move Over” law. The public is reminded when you see a stationary emergency vehicle, the law requires you to move over when possible, or slow down as you pass the emergency vehicle.
