EMPHASIS: Patrol Accepting Applications For Trooper

Tradition ... Respect ... Service ... These words describe The Missouri State Highway Patrol. If you’re looking for a challenging career with good benefits, the Patrol may have the answer. This highly respected law enforcement agency is now hiring for the position of trooper. Applications will be accepted until March 10, 2006. The 86th Recruit Class is tentatively scheduled to begin January 8, 2007. Special emphasis is being placed on recruiting qualified women and minorities who desire a career in law enforcement.

The Highway Patrol has an honorable 75-year history of service and protection in this state. We are looking for qualified candidates to continue this tradition. “Good law enforcement officers are needed in today’s world,” said Colonel Roger D. Stottlemyre, superintendent of the Patrol. “If you feel called to serve your state ... to respond when and where you are needed, please contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol.”

The selection process is a multiphase testing procedure including examinations in reading comprehension, writing skills, and police attitudinal factors. Additional testing includes fitness for duty assessment, polygraph examination, comprehensive background investigation and review, and an oral interview. After a conditional offer of employment, the applicant must successfully complete a medical examination (to include vision and hearing), psychological examination, and drug screening test.

Interested parties with inquiries concerning the selection process may contact a Patrol recruiter toll free at 1-800-796-7000.
