EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E Checkpoint In Stoddard County



Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the results of a checkpoint conducted in Troop E, Stoddard County, that began on November 11, 2007, at 4 p.m., and ended on November 11, 2007, at 9 p.m. During the operation troopers were assigned to conduct a checkpoint in Stoddard County to check for unregistered vehicles and unlicensed drivers. Assisting in the checkpoint was Bloomfield Police Department and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Troopers made 12 arrests during the shift, one for driving while intoxicated, three misdemeanor drug arrests, two misdemeanor warrant arrests, four other misdemeanor arrests, and two felony drug arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included two for seat belt violations, two for no child restraint, one for no driver’s license, one hazardous moving violation, five for no proof of insurance, and five non-moving violations. Troopers also issued 66 warnings during the operation for various other traffic violations. A total of 226 vehicles were stopped as well as five commercial vehicles. Officers conducted two field sobriety tests.

Captain Ridens stated, “All vehicles must be properly registered and insured, and drivers must posses a valid license. Officers in Troop E will continue to enforce these laws making ours highways safer.”
