EMPHASIS: 2006 Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Crash and Special Enforcement Operations Total for Troop E.







Captain G.E. Ridens, Commanding Officer, Troop E, announces the Memorial Day Weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop E area, which consists of the 13 southeast counties of Missouri. The enforcement operations include All American Buckle Up Week and the (C.A.R.E.) Combined Accident Reduction Effort.



During the 2006Memorial Day Weekend accident counting period, which began on Friday, May 26, 2006, and ended on Monday, May 29, 2006, Troop E officers investigated 14 traffic crashes, including a fatality crash that occurred in Butler County. Troop E officers made 30 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, issued 390 speeding summones, 178 seat belt summones, and assisted 194 motorists.



During the period covering May 22, 2006, through May 29, 2006, the Patrol was actively involved in the “All American Buckle Up “ campaign. As a result of the campaign, Troop E officers issued 221 seat belt summons and nine summonses for failure to secure a child in an approved child restraint seat.
