EMPHASIS: Colonel James F. Keathley Announces Promotion

Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion effective February 4, 2007:

Corporal Charles J. “Joey” Day was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will remain in his present assignment as an instructor in the Patrol’s Training Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.

Day was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 1994, as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 6, Morgan and Moniteau counties. In August 1999, he was promoted to corporal and assigned to Troop F, Zone 12, Osage and Gasconade counties. He transferred to Troop F, Zone 7, Cooper and Howard counties in 2001. In January 2006, Day transferred to the Training Division as an instructor.

Sergeant Day was born in Springfield, MO. He graduated from Park Hill High School in Kansas City, MO. He attended Central Missouri State University for two years, and earned as associate’s degree in criminal justice form Mineral Area College, Park Hills, MO, in 1994. Sgt. Day and his wife, Angie (Capps), have three children: Reiana, Madison, and Connor.
