EMPHASIS: 2007 Labor Day Traffic Crash And C.A.R.E. Totals For Troop E

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the Labor Day and C.A.R.E. enforcement totals and traffic crashes for Troop E. This year’s traffic crash and Operation C.A.R.E. -- “Combined Accident Reduction Effort” -- counting period began at 12:01 a.m., Friday August 31, 2007, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday September 3, 2007.

During the Labor Day traffic crash counting period troopers assigned to Troop E investigated 39 crashes, resulting in two fatalities and 12 injuries. Troopers also made 18 arrests for driving while intoxicated. During that same period, Troop E officers issued 258 citations for speeding and 152 citations for seat belt violations. There were eight citations issued for failing to have a child properly restrained in a child restraint system.

Captain Ridens stated, “I know that holidays are a fun time for all Missourians, but remembering to obey traffic laws, buckling up, and not drinking and driving, can, and will save lives. We want the citizens traveling on Missouri highways to be as safe as possible, and we are committed to their safety.”
