EMPHASIS: Patrol Accepting Trooper Applications

Tradition ... Respect ... Service ... These words describe The Missouri State Highway Patrol. If you’re looking for a challenging career with good benefits, the Patrol may have the answer. This highly respected law enforcement agency is now hiring for the position of trooper. Applications will be accepted until April 6, 2007. The 87th Recruit Class is tentatively scheduled to begin January 7, 2008. Special emphasis is being placed on recruiting qualified women and minorities who desire a career in law enforcement. As an incentive, a new program is being implemented for recruits who successfully complete the required training. This program will allow graduating recruits to choose their preferred assignments. The Highway Patrol has an honorable 75-year history of service and protection in this state. It is looking for qualified candidates to continue this tradition.
“The Patrol is currently focused on four strategies: Traffic/Work Zone Enforcement, Homeland Security, Crimes Against Persons and Property, and Department Management,” said Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Patrol. “These strategies are designed to further our mission of Service and Protection. Our agency is looking for qualified applicants who are driven to make Missouri a safe place to work and raise a family. If you feel called to serve your state ... If you are willing to respond when you are needed ... Please call us.”
The selection process is a multiphase testing procedure including written examinations, a physical fitness for duty assessment, polygraph examination, background investigation, oral interview board, medical examination, drug screening, and a psychological examination and interview. After a conditional offer of employment, the applicant must successfully complete a medical examination (to include vision and hearing), psychological examination, and drug-screening test.
