EMPHASIS: Crawford County Collector arrested for Stealing







Captain Ron Replogle, Director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC), announces on July 11, 2005, at approximately 1:12 p.m. as a result of a criminal investigation by DDCC’s Troop-I Criminal Investigative Unit and the Missouri State Auditor’s Office, Daniel W. Gladden, age 54, of Steelville, Missouri, was arrested for Theft/Stealing Value or Property or Service of $25,000 or more.



Gladden was the former Crawford County Collector, who resigned on July 7, 2005, as a result of this investigation that began as an Audit conducted by the Missouri State Auditor’s Office. Gladden has been released from custody after posting a $250,000 bond at the Crawford County Jail. This case has been referred to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office for prosecution at the request of the Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney.



Any further details are being withheld at this time pending the completion of the State Audit and the Criminal Investigation. The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence
