EMPHASIS: Troop E Sobriety Checkpoint Results

Captain George Ridens, Commanding Officer of Troop E, released the results of two DWI spotchecks in Stoddard and Butler counties conducted the evening of June 10 and early morning hours of June 11, 2005. The spotchecks were conducted in areas recognized for alcohol related traffic crashes and alcohol related arrests.

Despite some inclement weather, the two operations resulted in the arrest of 6 persons for operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. The operations also resulted in 17 total arrests, including 3 misdemeanor criminal arrests, and 38 warnings for various violations.

Captain Ridens added, “ We hope the public understands our message. Drinking and driving is a deadly combination nearly 300 times each year in Missouri. If you drink, don’t drive.”
