EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop Results in Drug Seizure

On Friday, July 29, 2005, at 9:40 a.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on US 60 near Cabool, Missouri. The vehicle, a 1997 Dodge pickup truck, was being driven by Jaime G. Suarez, 29, of Kansas City, Kansas.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 pounds of marijuana. The subject was placed under arrest, and along with his vehicle was transported to Troop G Headquarters. A more detailed search of the vehicle yielded the discovery of 2.2 pounds of cocaine.

Suarez was incarcerated in the Texas County Jail for Possession With the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. He is currently free on $100,000 Bond.

Officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug & Crime Control’s Narcotics Unit and the South Central Area Drug Task Force aided numerous Troop G officers in the investigation.

The charges for which Suarez was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
