Troop A Citizens Complete Community Alliance Program
Captain Scott A. Shipers, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, MO, announces on November 15, 2017, 22 Troop A area residents completed a Community Alliance Program offered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop A Headquarters. The Community Alliance Program is a unique opportunity for citizens to gain insight and understanding of the training and many duties of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. It also offers an opportunity to meet and interact with several members and employees of the Patrol. During the program, the participants met at the Troop A Headquarters in Lee’s Summit, MO, for seven consecutive Wednesday evenings, where they received classroom and practical instruction on various topics including firearms, traffic stops, traffic crash and criminal investigations, polygraph examinations, aircraft operations, K9 demonstration, criminal interdiction, and SWAT operations.
The program culminated with an awards ceremony, which was held at Troop A and sponsored by the Taking It To The Streets and Liberty Fruit Company. During the awards ceremony, participants received a plaque for their participation. Participants of the 2017 Troop A Community Alliance Program were: Steve Arbo, of Lee’s Summit, MO; Derek Bell, of Grain Valley, MO; Michael Collins, of Lee’s Summit, MO; Susan DeCourcey, of Kansas City, MO; Emily Fundermann, of Kansas City, MO; Tim Green, of Lee’s Summit, MO; Bob Heifner, of Kansas City, MO; Kevin Holman, of Lee’s Summit, MO; Carrie Hudson, of Leawood, KS; Bill and Jamie Kidd, of Independence, MO; Scott LaMaster, of Greenwood, MO; Leann Lewis, of Stillwell, KS; Susan Long, of Oak Grove, MO; Bill Mayor, of Greenwood, MO; Wayne McDougal, of Belton, MO; Annette Murray, of Lee’s Summit, MO; Nikki Spencer, of Blue Springs, MO; Lynn Urban, of Warrensburg, MO; Tony Welhoff, of Harrisonville, MO; and Mark and Julie Wolfe, of Marshall, MO.
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
