MSHP Requests Assistance From The Public Regarding Fatal Traffic Crash
Captain Jeffrey N. Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, is asking the public to assist in identifying a vehicle that left the scene of a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred at approximately 7:39 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016, on County Road 401 approximately 1 mile south of Benton, Missouri, in Scott County. Evidence gathered at the scene indicates the suspect vehicle is possibly a 2004 to 2011 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, dark gray or black in color. After striking and killing the pedestrian, the pickup truck fled the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and/or driver of the truck. The pickup truck should have passenger’s side front end damage including a missing passenger’s side door mirror and missing passenger’s side fog lamp.
Members of the public who have seen this type of pickup truck with the damage described, or have any information concerning the crash, are asked to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-573-840-9500, or *55 from a cellular telephone.
