EMPHASIS: Arrest made on 17-year-old outstanding warrant

Captain Ronald K. Replogle, Director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC), announces as a result of a criminal investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, Douglas Allen Fisher, 47, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, was arrested on May 22, 2005, for an Escambia County, Florida, Warrant dated December 7, 1988. The warrant was issued by the Circuit Court of Escambia County for Sexual Battery Victim under 11 years, and Lewd and Lascivious Act on a Child. Fisher was also arrested for Tampering 1st Degree and is being held in the Callway County Jail.

The investigation began as a complaint of a suspected clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at a rural location in the Holts Summit, Missouri, area. During this investigation, officers identified Fisher and discovered the warrant. While attempting to locate Fisher, the investigators found a stolen 1988 International U-Haul Truck which was reported missing by the Jefferson City Police Department on April 11, 2005.

The Central Missouri Humane Society of Boone County was also dispatched to the scene to assist with the removal and care of 37 dogs that belonged to Fisher. Those animals were removed to insure their well being, while Fisher awaits extradition to Florida.

The charges for which Fisher has been arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
